Parish Intro

"A few years ago we relocated to Evansville and simply went to mass where the kids attended school because it was an obvious, easy solution for our parish needs;  but it never felt like home.   It seemed like everyone was the same, the kids were the same, they played the same sports, went to the same parties, parents caught each other coming and going, we participated the same way, we were so busy with school that there was little interest for prayer groups or spiritual growth.  Instead of feeling like I belonged, I felt like I was in a cookie-cutter world just going through the motions.  I had to find something more.  I remembered a wise old Catholic neighbor of mine once told me she felt at home in her downtown parish because it had what she termed a "healthy" parish mix of people:  different people from a variety of social conditions who challenged each other by their very presence to live the life of Christ, a life of humble service, acceptance and love.  I used my neighbor's criteria as my guide, and with the help of the Holy Spirit, found St. Anthony Catholic Church.  It has been a beautiful place of welcome and worship for me and my family.  My three children feel an important and necessary part of the youth ministry here, my faith experience and my relationship with Christ and His people continues to grow, my husband and I have found ways to share our gifts in service, and do so gladly, and we have all found a warm, friendly, genuine place to pray and worship.  I am so thankful to be a part of this community, and to have my family a part of it too. Jesus Christ is at the center of everything that happens here at St. Anthony.  We are a community that celebrates the love of Christ through fellowship and service to all His people.  Please, feel welcome to visit with us or serve with us."
